The Port Aransas Nature Preserve encompasses five natural areas within the City of Port Aransas with miles of hike and bike trails, boardwalks and scenic overlooks. The predominant piece of property consists of a 1280-acre Nature Preserve which represents one of the largest contiguous tracts of undeveloped land in any coastal plain that has been preserved for environmental, ecological and historical purposes. Other sites include the Joan & Scott Holt Paradise Pond, Leonabelle Turnbull Birding Center and the Wetland Park. These areas provide a safe haven for wildlife that has succumb to the pressures of habitat destruction and development. All Nature Preserve sites are free to access and open to the public from sunrise to sunset. Pets are not permitted.
